facilitating a shared experience toward healing

What is tctsy

TCTSY is a safe way to process traumatic memory without words through the use of physical forms and movements of the body and breath.  TCTSY differs from traditional yoga classes as there are no physical hands on or assists, rather the participant is given opportunities to make choices that are based on the felt sense of their own body.

TCTSY supports participants to:

connect with the sensations in their bodies

increase feelings of empowerment

rebuild and strengthen relationship to self and others

remain in the present moment

No yoga experience is needed. If you feel you live with the effects of trauma or this style of practice is useful to you, you’re welcome in class.

Verbal processing of trauma stories or class experiences is not part of this TCTSY group class; It is however, important that you have access to support systems or services during the program. This could include, but is not limited to, access to a counselor, psychologist or social worker or a community or faith-based leader. Please feel free to get in touch if you wish to discuss this further.

A free 15 minute phone consultation is required prior to attending your first session. You can schedule your consultation by contacting Crystal at crystal@healing.sprucecare.com

TCTSY as a source for Perimenopause/Menopause

Menopause can make women feel as though they don’t recognize their own bodies, with symptoms such as low energy, irregular sleep, brain fog, and hot flashes. Becoming acquainted with your body through TCTSY could be useful to women experiencing these symptoms.

While TCTSY was developed for those who have experienced complex trauma, almost anyone can benefit from this supportive yoga.

TCTSY supports participants to:

Connect with sensations in their bodies

Increase feelings of empowerment

Rebuild & strengthen relationship to self and others

Remain in the present moment

tctsy as a source for self care and preventing/managing vicarious trauma

Professionals working with people who have experienced trauma and adverse life experiences will undoubtedly be personally affected by hearing about these traumatic events, and by witnessing the considerable impact and distress they can cause. Working with people who have experienced trauma and injustice is complex. It can be experienced as a privilege, bringing an added sense of connection, value and meaning to our lives. However, it can also become personally draining, desensitizing, and at times overwhelming.

This is an opportunity for therapists, advocates, social workers, and any other social service or care provider to connect with their embodied experience through yoga.  I hope to support you in discovering a shared space of connection and presence, and nourishing that possibility within the individuals you serve.
